 January 2006 Field Trip

If you are a member you probably heard of this trip. If not there was a field trip on Saturday, 01/28/06 to the marble quarry in Sylacauga. There was a lot of pearly white marble and some pink collected on this lovely day and enough pyrite to make an inexperienced gold rush miner go insane.

June 2006 Fieldtrip

What: Panning for gold!
Where: Sougahatchee Creek (near Reeltown)
When: June 10th 2006
What to bring: Tools for panning!
Warning! You will get at least your feet wet!

David Sherrod Reported that even though the weather was hot and not a lot of gold was found, that the approx. 8-10 people that attended did in fact find some gold and it was a very fun and enjoyable outing.

Julie Tatum wrote up a nice little article about her experiences on her first field trip outing (June) with the club, it can be found in in the August 2006 Edition of the Golden Nugget. Thanks Julie

August 2006 Fieldtrip

On August 12, 2006 there were four of us that made the trip to Lake Martin just above Stillwater to do little gold panning and although it was only flour sized there was nice color in every pan and even with the sunburn I obtained it was a very enjoyable outing. For those of you who saw the video at the August meeting (The World Below) and remember the cave crickets, david showed an old mine shaft that was loaded with them, quite the interesting little creature. So even though we went on the trip with gold fever there were other things to be experienced.
